Galleria area company is seeking a Staff Accountant for a 6-month contract with potential for full-time hire.
Schedule: Hybrid - up to 5 work-from-home days per month
Essential Responsibilities:
Responsible for the monthly maintenance of the fixed asset system, including recording additions, disposals, depreciation, and asset location changes
Prepare and maintain journal entries and general ledger accounts
Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
Perform bank, credit card, and account reconciliations
Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed
Prepare financial reports, schedules, and supporting documentation
Analyze financial data and investigate discrepancies
Assist with audits by preparing requested documentation and schedules
Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and internal controls
Maintain organized accounting records and documentation
Support budgeting and forecasting activities
Assist with sales tax filings and other regulatory reporting requirements
Collaborate with internal departments to resolve accounting-related issues
Minimum Educational and Job Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited institution
1-3 years of experience preferred (open to candidates with more experience)
Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel (formulas, pivot tables, etc.)
Working knowledge of GAAP reporting
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities
Experience with financial accounting software and ability to learn new systems quickly
Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
Pay $31.00-33.00/hr.
